I am Mateo.
I come from Chile.
I have lived in NewZealand for four years.
I came to Greenpark School at the start of the term.
I felt proud when I introduced my home country to Room 3.
The children from Room 3 were interested in most parts of Chile.

At the puppet show the whole school including the teachers watched it. It was fun watching it.
There was a blue velvet cover over a puppet box that looked like stairs.
By Meryl
The characters were sheep, camel, donkey, ox and a chicken, some shepherds, a band and a 3 news puppet. The ox was very funny. The band was called the Barnyard Barnicles.

The Meeting House
We made a meeting house. Mrs.M's neighbour had to help Mrs.M pull it apart because it woudn't
fit in her car. When Mrs.M got to school she took all of the pieces out of her car. Some of the boys
helped her put it back together again. Then the boys helped Mrs.M make the roof out of cardboard. The girls made panels for inside the meeting house and the boys made poles that looked like they had been carved in maori patterns. The next day we drew pictures of the meeting
house. By Lucy , Stacy and Callum.

Celebrating
Our school topic at the moment is Celebrations. We have done lots of work on Celebrating and posters. We did posters about celebrations like ANZAC Day , Childrens Day and Guy Fawkes Day.
We got two hoops and wrote lots of celebrations and put celebrating labels in the hoops. We did posters about ANZAC Day, Childrens Day and Guy Fawkes Day. We went on the internet and found out where the 3 celebrations were held. The next week we learnt about Diwali and White Sunday.
We got given a doll and we had to make a costume like what they wear in the celebrations of Diwali or White Sunday. The next week we got given a notice about parents to come and share our learning.

Our Work on Time
For our work on time we have groups of people learning different times. Some people are learning
o'clock, half past and 3 people are learning quarter to and quarter past.We went outside and put a
big clock face with no hands or numbers because Mrs M. wanted us to put the numbers where they
belong. Then we played a game called Whats the time Mr/Mrs Wolfie?Callum went first. We learnt some new time games. One of the games is called clock face race.We had mini white boards and clock magnets to match the analogue clocks to the digital clocks. There were half past and o'clock
magnets and as well there were quarter past magnets. Lucy and Stacy learnt a new game and it was called The right time. You played it like this. You take the clock cards and share them with a friend then you say quarter past or half past or o'clock. If it is right you take the card and if it is wrong then you leave it in a pile. Then you take turns.

Deciduous Trees
Mrs M taught us how to draw a deciduous tree with "vs" on the concrete to give us a good surface. We drew deciduous trees because they had no leaves. In autumn the deciduous
tree's leaves fall off.

Why do the leaves fall off the trees at Greenpark School?

In our classroom we had a sheet of paper to ask questions with a group or with one other person. On our piece of paper we asked questions about leaves. We told the class our questions and Mrs.M wrote our good questions on a big bit of paper. The other day we answerd the questions with another piece of paper and looked up two different websites about leaves and found out answers to our questions. When we found out the answers to our questions the older children made a book about leaves and used the 6 important questions and wrote the questions and answers in our book.We did our illustrations and we took our books to the principal and got a principal's award.

Leaves
This term our class topic is "Leaves".We got 2 sheets of paper that had question words on it.
Why, Where, When, What, Who, How and Which.
Carol the caretaker gave us a letter shaped as a leaf.
It said thank you for cleaning up the leaves on the court. The trucks broke so what will you do next time?
The next day we went outside and looked at what tree the oak leaves came off and blew
to the court.
Stacy thought the wind blew in different directions to make the leaves get on the
court. The next day Mrs.M brought her leaf blower to see if Stacy was right. She was.
Callum, Blake, Cody and Meryl had a turn with the leaf blower.

Questioning
We are learning to ask good questions this year.
Today the Year 3s worked on a question to ask others,
when they already knew the answer.
Can you work out the answer to this question?
What is an orange, crunchy, long cone-shaped vegetable that grows underground in your garden, and has green leaves that grow out the top?
What is a soft yellow crescent shaped fruit that you peel?
Some of our busy girls then wrote their own questions, knowing the answer.
What is a juicy, round red fruit that grows in the garden? by Lucy
What is a red, mushy fruit that has lots of seeds and is very juicy? by Jelena
What is a green vegetable that is long, has leaves just at the top , and grows on the dirt?
by Stacy.

Mask Making
Today Mrs M told some year 3 people to help Cody, Jessica V, Jody ,Laudis and Freya make a mask.
First we had to get a brown paper bag. Then we had to cut out some eyes. After that we had to draw a nose and a mouth. When we got to work it was very easy. All the masks looked cool. When they were finished Mrs M took a photo. It was fun.
