Today room 3 got a letter from East Timor saying thank you for the money to buy the trees for the tropical rainforest. Now we have another $25 so Mrs M is going to send the money to East Timor and buy 25 more trees.

Saving the Rainforest

We did jobs at home to earn some money to buy some trees for a rainforest in East Timor. So far
We have $33. Today we gave the money to Amber's Mum. She works at the bank in Lincoln. She is going to send it to East Timor today. Today we will buy 25 trees.

Kara thought we should make posters, so we did.
by Room 3 students.

Mrs M is very proud of you all for working so hard to help the rainforest.
Well done.

In Room 3 we sort our paper from other rubbish. Mrs Rooks puts the paper into the recycling bin. Last Monday our recycling bins were not by the worm farms. They were out at the gate. We went and looked inside them. We could see some of the paper from Room 3 in the recycling bins and the paper towels from the boys and girls rooms.

We wondered:

Where does the truck take the paper to?

What happens to the paper?

How does it get made into more paper?

PAPER MAKING

Yesterday we learnt how to make paper out of recycled paper. There were two containers with paper pulp in them. There were tea leaves in one container and in the other container it had petals. Then we had to put the frames on the bottom of the container and we had to lift it up .We had to drain it. Then we had to place it on the lino. Next we took the top frame off and then we took the middle frame off. At the end we sponged the paper to get all the water out so it wasn’t runny and it won’t break.

This is a food web from a tropical rainforest.

THE FOOD WEB

On Thursday we made a food web. We made it with the class. We threw a ball to each other again and again. Mrs Jackson started and she was the jaguar. She was at the top of the food web.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE RAINFORESTS

The tropical rainforest is getting burnt down and cut down. The animals are losing there homes. If the plants die the insects will die and it goes on and on until all the animals die. We are trying to save the tropical rainforest.
