GOODBYE TO OUR FRIEND JESSICA

Jessica is going to a new school next term.
Today she helped Ruby's group paint a table.
Ruby helped Jessica to dress up for painting.
Ruby had forgotten her old clothes,
so she found something at school for her and Jessica to wear.

ANOTHER BARBECUE TABLE IS DONE

Kaeleb's dad brought the goat to school.
When he shot the mum the baby was inside her tummy.
He put it in his hat and brought it home.
Now it's grown and it's strong.

Jody brought the guinea pig to school. We got to hold it. It was soft and fluffy and cute.

GROWING

Today we went to see the garden, and my bean's grown, and my sweet peas' grown. We planted a bulb today. It was fun. Today we did huff and puff.

OLDER PERSONS' AFTERNOON

Last Friday to celebrate the end of this fortnight's VALUES focus of RESPECT, students invited an older person whom they respected to a special afternoon.
Our visitors shared stories of their school days. Then we showed them some of the things we do at school now. We all had a great time. Thank you for coming.

We painted the barbecue table.
It was fun.
We brought old clothes so if we get the oil paint on us it doesn't matter.
It was our huff and puff team.

The Library Bus

Yesterday the library bus came to school for the first time.
We were all very excited.

Sally's Beans

On Monday some of our older students read a story called Sally's Beans.
After planting the beans today we came back to class. The big kids read the story to the younger ones. Here is Jody reading to Kaeleb.

SEEDS

The Room 3 scientists have discovered that bean seeds come from a bean pod and sweet pea seeds come from a sweet pea pod. Today we cut open a soaked bean seed and found a baby plant inside.

COMMUNITY FLOWER SHOW

For a display in the Greenpark Community Flower Show children in Room 3 decorated stones. After the flower show these will be added to our Room 3 garden as we show pride in our school surroudings.

On Tuesday I did the background. It was fun. On Wednesday we planned the picture. Then we put the picture on. The next day I painted the flower. It was fun. Mrs M put the name on today.

On Tuesday we painted the stone. I painted my stone green. On Wednesday Mrs M gave us some paper. I drew a ladybird. Mrs M said, "Draw on your stone." I painted my ladybird red. We put it in the sun to dry. Today Mrs M put the names on the stones.

OUR VISION

This year is the year that we launch our new vision for the school.
It is important that even the youngest students in our school understand our vision.
To help in their understanding,the following adapted from the song "The Pohutakawa Tree" will become our classroom poem:

I am a little acorn seed.
Plant me in the ground and water me.

Plenty of sunshine is what I need.
Then guess what I will be.

Out will shoot a tiny twig,
And it will continue to grow so big.

Grounded, Rounded, Open and Whole.
Into an oak tree is my goal.
